Our college offers the following access opportunities: you either have completed a vocational training in the ceramic industry (+ 1 year of work experience) or you have completed vocational training in the non-ceramic sector (+2 years of work experience) or you have worked for 6 years without any qualifying training, 3 of them in the ceramic industry.
The part-time option allows for proof of work periods by the end of your education; this means that work periods between tuition modules will be taken into account.
You can apply all year round; an entrance examination is not necessary. The deadline for your application is each year on March 1st for the academic year starting after the summer holidays.
Depending on your personal situation, you might be eligible for financial support under the “Meister-BAfÖG” programme (state-funded financial assistance for master craftsmen trainees in full-time tuition)

Höhr-Grenzhausen in the Westerwald is the most comprehensive and most renowned centre of ceramic education and research in Germany. The State Technical College of Ceramics in Höhr-Grenzhausen is an educational institution with a long-standing tradition. Since 1897, it has ensured a sound and renowned education for ceramicists and thereby met the demand for skilled labour beyond the borders of the Westerwald. Living and learning at our college is characterized by often small tuition groups and therefore by a very personal support through all colleagues of the college.
This gives our students the opportunity for active participation in the college life. Even outside the classroom, we attach great importance to a cordial cooperative atmosphere.
The teaching staff at the college all gathered years of experience in the ceramic industry. There are numerous and diverse companies in our region, which can be visited in the course of college field trips. Most of these companies are also available for project work. We also make provision for a 1-week field trip during the course of your studies. All this allows you to build up a professional network from the very beginning.
